Biography of Ram Jethmalani
Born on 14 September 1923 in Shikarpur, Sindh, to Boolchand Gurmukhdas Jethmalani and Parbati Boolchand. He got a double promotion in school and completed matriculation at the age of 13. At the age of 17, he secured an LL.B. degree from Bombay University with a first-class distinction. During the Emergency in India (1975-77), he was President of the Bar Association. He faced an arrest warrant and 10 months in exile due to his vociferous stand for democracy.
Jethmalani served as a Member of Parliament in India for 6 terms in both the lower & upper houses. He was a Union Minister 3 times. He practiced at the bar for 77 years, from 1940 to 2017.
